Even

After

All this time

The sun never says to the earth,

‘You owe

Me.’

Look

What happens

With a love like that,

It lights the

Whole

Sky.

what if...
you had a
VERY
TALL
plastic hat

full of water

and in it
you could put
your pet fish!

So, when you left for work,
you could put on your fish
and they would share your day!

Maybe you'd even coordinate which fish to bring
and what color tie

that way the Outside would take you seriously.

What if...
the hat were SO TALL
that it went into the sky!!!
and then...
FINALLY
fish and birds would be eye to eye.

however would you get it off?

maybe you'd just walk over to the ocean,
tip it off
and say goodbye?

if you could wear the world's tallest plastic hat
what would YOU put inside?

There were
glow in the dark popcorn!

so that
in a dark room,
a popcorn machine would look like fireflies!

or maybe you could carve different shapes out of the kernels
so each one would pop into a different creature!

and they would be glowing and popping
just like a glow--in- the --dark- popping- zoo.

maybe you could even get really big kernels
in a really big glass popcorn maker
and people would think you had poppin' pets!

it would take
r-- e--- a---- l---- l---- y
l....o.....n.......g
just to eat one kernel.

Would people have to make longer movies?

What would it be like to nibble something so bright?
Would people look like they had fire in their cheeks?

WHAT IF
you lived on top of a GIANT popcorn factory
AND
your floor was glass!!!

so, everytime you looked down
you'd see
popcorn hitting your feet.

IMAGINE
the dance parties at your house.
(especially at night!)

it would be like tap dancing on shooting stars.

Maybe in parts of your floor
there would be holes for the popcorn to come flying up
so
the dancers could always grab a quick bite.

and What If
each kernel were a different color?
You'd be living on top of the 4th of July!!!

What If...

for a day...
we put down our cellphones
forgot to check facebook

and instead

looked at one stranger in the eye?

hungry wind

The Wind is really hungry today.

it's eating hats, branches, wigs and leaves.

I'm lucky I was able to write these words
without it gobbling them away!

Do you think when the wind falls asleep
the stolen items will come falling down?

What a mess!

No one will no what is who's!

Glasses landing on the wrong heads,

and everyone will have mis-matched shoes!

What if the wind not only stole THINGS
but FACES?

so for a day
there'd be
smiles, eyebrows, and noses
trading places.

If you were in a grouchy mood
would a smile blown to you
cheer you up?

and
if you got your friend's nose from across the country.

Would you have to mail it back?

It would be a problem if people preferred their new features.

The others would be left
with missing brows and lashes.

No one would recognize eachother!

If no one looked liked themselves
how would we know who to love?

or by that time,
would we finally love EVERYONE?

sky ladder

what if...
you had a very tall ladder
that could climb a very tall tree...
and at the top
you could peer into tomorrow!

(but then climb back into today)

will i find home?

I've been thinking
(all day and all night)
(for the past month)
((or year!!))
--about this collective house I'm trying to form--

and I wanted to say (or write):
------     ----      -------
I am wary of romanticizing a shared-living environment.
I know that living with a lot of people can bring in a MESS of issues
(especially when there are dishes to wash).

BUT
I am looking forward to a --different kind of hard--
(after feeling very alone for 3 years).

I am ready for a relationship!
And am prepared to take the WHOLE package.

EVEN IF
sometimes it's stressful,
overwhelming,
or just plain annoying!

As with love and romance....
I don't (anymore)
believe
in magic
or in "falling."

Love to me, is grounded in a shared understanding that we as humans carry around a LOT of issues.

and there is no escape
from life's heaviness.

Instead, I want to look it directly in the eye...
and confront the challenges of sharing a life,
expecting nothing more
than to learn
and to try.

I love love love
the woman that works at the China Town Bus Stop.
She asks everyone that walks by:
"where are you going?"
(even people that aren't taking the bus!)

I WANT THIS JOB!!!!

I want to ask EVERYONEinTHEworld
where they are going!
or...
WHY.

"Why are you going?

WHY?"

Maybe people are only going because no one is asking them to stay!

wouldn't it be nice
if Going -- [stopped]
and
we all stayed in one place
(for a moment)
to color,
hula-hoop,
and look at twinkling stars.

what if...
everytime someone cried...
there were a signal sent out
(like a bell)
((that's loud enough for the WORLD to hear)

the bells would be non-stop?

so people would know that they are not alone in their tears!

or maybe...
you would cry, the bell would ring,
and it would tell you the location of the closest person
that is also crying.
and
you would go to their house...
and cry together!
(and even make a friend?)

OR
what if
there were a place----
the Crying Center?
(every neighborhood would have one)
and there would be lots of
pillows, tissues
and
HUGS.
So,
whenever you felt a cry coming,
you'd stop by the center.

Next door to the crying center would be
the Laughing Center,
where people would hang upside down from trees,
(there'd be trees inside).
and there would be non-stop giggling!

But the walls would be thin between the crying and laughing center,
so you'd be reminded of one
when you're THICK in the other.

You could even go back and forth!

OR or OR or OR

WHAT IF...
you were having a bad day
you would get to put on a shirt
called "the bad day t-shirt"
and EVERYONE in the city would know of it!

and if you saw someone wearing the shirt
you'd go and give them a hug
or a GIANT SMILE
or even a lollipop?

or maybe a bad day hat...
so you could take it off easily
(after the lollipop cheers you up!)
